While Cassady Lance may be a new face on television, she is no stranger to Savannah. She was born and raised in Georgia’s first city, and is now thrilled to be back working as a reporter and weather forecaster for The Coastal Source.
Following graduation from Calvary Day School in Savannah, Cassady attended and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Media and Performing Arts, where she performed in various stage and film productions.
Never satisfied in her quest for knowledge, creativity, and opportunities, she then made the move to Houston, Texas to work as a performing arts educator with Arts Alive, Inc., and to further her education. It was in the Lone Star State that she obtained a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Houston.
Cassady got her start in news as an intern at KPRC-TV, the NBC news affiliate in Houston, and was ultimately hired as an associate producer, learning all about the business on the other side of the camera. She also worked for Houston PBS as a production assistant and reporter. During her time there, she became one of the founding members of “College Smart,” a web series that reports on the interests and issues of college students and young adults.
In 2010, Cassady also had the unique opportunity to represent her home state as Miss Georgia USA. She dedicated her year traveling the state of Georgia, serving as a representative and state ambassador for the Miss Universe Organization, and ultimately competed and represented the state of Georgia at the 2010 Miss USA Pageant on NBC.
Away from the office, Cassady enjoys spending time with her two favorite guys- her husband Daniel and her dog Cooper, as well as with family and friends. She enjoys reading, eating out, watching movies, anything adventurous (she’s been skydiving twice!), and traveling.
Cassady is excited to be back in her hometown, and working with the people and community she loves. Feel free to email her with comments, story ideas, or just to say “hey” at firstname.lastname@example.org.
