Candice Glover, now fondly referred to by fans as the new queen of soul, welcomed a crowd of hundreds who came out to cheer on the American Idol hopeful during her homecoming concert in Beaufort Saturday.
Candice serenaded the crowd with her favorite songs from the season. She was presented a specially made key to the city and a proclamation from South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. Glover told the crowd how overwhelmed she was by all of the love and support from her hometown, and she couldn’t believe the turnout herself saying that she didn’t realize Beaufort had so many people living in the town.
Not only was it an exciting day for Candice, but it was also a great day for the city of Beaufort. The entire city filled the streets downtown to support their future American Idol.
Everyone was screaming Candice’s name and the feeling of support was very real and genuine. And since Candice’s alma mater is Beaufort High School, it was only fitting the high school marching band and dancers provide entertainment for the crowd. Even Beaufort’s mayor rode his motorcycle in the parade
The grand finale, of course, was Candice. She was full of emotion and had been tearing up all day. The outpouring of support from her hometown was overwhelming at times with so many of her supporters saying they want her to succeed and promising to vote for her several times during the show.
